HR Policies and Programs
One of the most effective tools you can have to help you manage your workforce is a Human Resources Policy Manual. Clearly defining and communicating the “rules of the game” makes life at work easier for everyone and will save your organization time and money. When employees have questions about their terms and conditions of employment, they can easily find the answers. Or they can ask you or their supervisor and still get the same answer. Nothing substitutes for consistency!
Few things upset employees more than thinking that they’re not being treated the same as their co-workers. When they detect inconsistencies, most people believe they’re the one receiving the lesser treatment. The result is often conflict between employees. Having policies and following them will eliminate this.
You’ll protect your organization from external legal actions. If a complaint is made to the Ministry of Labour, you’ll be able to demonstrate that you have policies in place and that you follow them. Should any of your employees engage in improper behaviour, proof that you have, and have communicated, legally compliant policies will aid in protecting you from vicarious liability. Examples are harassment policies and prohibiting the use of wireless communications devices while driving.
Access HR Solutions will provide you with policies and advice on how to implement them. Should there be any change in legislation during the two years after we provide you with a policy, we will update your policy for free.
