Welcome to Access HR Solutions –
Your Human Resources Manager

Your employees are your greatest asset. They can also be your greatest challenge. This only stands to reason. Finances, equipment, marketing, inventory, facilities – all of these challenge you from time to time. Your staff, with their different abilities, interests, and objectives and how you interact with them – that’s far more complicated!

Having the right people in place, working together towards the same goals, is key to the success of your organization. You need to hire skilled employees, keep them on-board and motivated, and have systems in place to deal with problems fairly and consistently when they arise. And they will arise!

Additionally you have to ensure that your employment policies and practices are compliant with employment legislation.

Access HR Solutions will help you manage your employment relationships. Small and medium-sized businesses often associate human resources with large corporations of a thousand or more employees. In fact, as soon as you hire one employee you’ve taken on the same responsibilities under the Employment Standards Act, the Ontario Human Rights Code, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act as a large corporation. Ask yourself:

• Is your recruitment process compliant with the Ontario Human Rights Code?

• Are you paying people properly – overtime, vacation pay, lieu time, etc.? Do you have the Ministry of Labour Permits that you need? Are they up to date?

• Do you and your supervisors have the skills to resolve conflicts between co-workers?

• What do you do if you suspect an employee has stolen from you?

• Do your employees think that you’re not treating them consistently?

• If people are leaving, do you know why?

• How would you respond to a complaint from the Ministry of Labour? Even better, how do you avoid one?

• That person who’s working for you as a contractor – is he really an independent contractor? Do you understand the costs to you if he’s not?

If you’re not confident about your answers to any of these questions, contact us.

Why Outsource HR?

You don’t need a full-time human resources professional in your organization, nor do you have the budget. Though your employees understand that, it doesn’t mean they’re willing to settle for inferior treatment.

Independent Contractor or Employee?

Your business is growing. You need help. You don’t want all the responsibilities and costs of employees so you decide to hire people as independent contractors – asking them to bill you for their work.

Employee Use of Wireless Devices.

You may be taking a big gamble assuming your employees understand and are adhering to the Countering Distracted Driving and Promoting Green Transportation Act. The new "cell phone act" may not be as clear as you think.
